Zombie-Killer Bill by E. M. MacCallum

With an introduction by Eric S. Brown, Zombie King, I knew this was going to be a great read, and I was not disappointed.

From the beginning, this book lets you know right up front what Zombie Killer Bill is up against. With very wonderfully descriptive prose, E. M. MacCullum hooks you and the ride begins in earnest.

What if you saw an extraordinarily green Minnesota Zombie Farm. Littering the cornfields were dozens of sloth-like bodies. Though slow, they were efficient in their work. Slaves without conscience, without complaint or rebellion. That was the appeal of purchasing zombie slaves. They were docile, obedient, and dirt cheap to buy, clothe, and feed.

Sounds perfect right? Workers who would slowly but surely get the work done, without complaint… farmers would love this wouldn't they? No rebellion! Zombie slaves that would harvest, pick, do whatever the farm needed, wow, how perfect!

Why the need for a Zombie Killer you might wonder. Why was Zombie Killer Bill sitting upon his horse on a hill overlooking this seemingly serene picture? Why would he not, when summoned by the very much human foreman, meet him in the middle? Why would this man whose blue shirt was ironed smooth beneath the sun-dyed leather duster; unmarred by stains and wrinkled imperfections. Wearing polished chaps and boots, sitting atop the unnaturally still brown Quarter horse not move from the spot?

After being recognized by the government, Zombie-Killer Bill was sought by people with Illegal zombie problems.

Now the action begins. The set up took only 8 pages – and what a set up it is, very good descriptions of the problems of ‘illegal Zombies' it makes you want to just keep reading until you are done.

If you think it's all been written before and and there are no new Zombie ideas out there, then you need to read this book! I loved the flow of the book from beginning to end… and this IS a new idea, a new story, a story you will want to read and pass along to other Zombie fans.

I highly recommend the writing of E.M. MacCallum, Zombie Killer Bill is an awesome read and I for one will be watching to see what this writer comes up with next! You will not be disappointed!

Here is the blurb from Sonar4:

Zombie-Killer Bill is a gunslinger hired to kill the Illegal zombies of the wild west. The Illegals - raging, flesh-eating monsters - spread the infection more than their zombie counterparts - the docile Slave or coherent Legals. Bill's new job however, is bigger than just a routine zombie slaying. Dozens of Legal and Slave zombies have been brutally murdered on the Hansen Zombie Farm, leaving only the suspicion that a single crazed man was behind it all. To solve the murders Bill teams up with a unlikely partner and hits the dusty trail. Together they risk life and limb to catch the mad-scientist before he changes the west as they know it.

Whether you read to escape, or just because, you will love this tall tale!
