Glutton
Christina P. Davis
Observing
from afar
Longing to touch...only touch
her skin
radiant....soft....warm
Oh so warm
Peering into her soul
A tic boring himself deeper
into her essence
Eyes lock intently and she
unavoidably drawn
bespelled by his stare
He desperately wants to keep her
at a distance
Knowing all too well
his gluttonous tendencies
Afraid of the war
that rages inside his ancient mind
But her beauty paraded before him
on the battlefield
clouding all judgment
Casting aside all those who stood guard
in his torn conscience
Anger flared at his compulsion
Knowing eternal sleep was fast approaching
gracious beauty
But he became indifferent to her spirit
Consumed only with appetite for her warmth
An internal fire scorched the beast
as it moved inside
its human cage
trapped by bones and flesh
Waiting for the moment he could take her
unleashed
Convulsing with pleasure
he drew hands to her breasts
Mouth to her divine and waiting throat
and he drank
of her delicious nerve endings
While sun patiently waited
Nirvana passed through the gateway
Familiar metallic taste
filling reflections
of time eternal
burning… turning… yearning
Desire like honey

from his aching deception
Her warmth stolen
and she falls limp in his arms
He has had his fill
His anger subsides
as she turns cold
Such beauty even in death
Crimson
laced like leaves
fallen
neglected in autumn's haze
Yes, beauty remains but her warmth
stolen by a glutton
