Title
of story
Your
Name (don't put ‘by')
Go
down one line and your story starts here. The first line is NOT indented…
and you just keep typing until that paragraphs is finished.
Your next paragraph starts here because you've fixed
your word processor so that the first line (and that means the first
line of all paragraphs) is set at 0.5.
There are no page numbers, no headers, footers, and
you have not put your name, address, phone number and all that at the
top. Just the title, name, story, bio… that's all that goes into your
manuscript. No ‘the end' no *** at the end of the story, none of that.
Your scene breaks are centered with one space above and below it before
the next paragraph like this:
***
About
the author: goes right here, not indented, at the end of the story.
If you must leave a link, please make it black, with no underline. There
is nothing more stupid in a print book than a blue link that of couse,
since it's print, cannot be clicked on.

Here are the guidelines
for an editor sending a manuscript to me:
Three attachments:
TOC
Back of book blurb
The story manuscript
The TOC is exactly the order of stories by who...
exact order.. nothing out of order or missing.
The back of book blurb: I like for this to be
a list of contributors, this makes it easier for the writer to add this
to his/her author page, but if you must make it a blurb about the book..
only ONE paragraph.
The manuscript:
Please, don't put a TOC here: or page numbers: these
are done by someone else!
One story after the other, a new page break after each story/bio. YOU
make the page break, this is so that a page ends after each
story.bio, the next story begins on a new page, of course.
Format... title, by line centered, first line of story
NOT indented, all the rest of paragraphs ARE indented 0.5, scene breaks
are denoted by *** centered... first paragraph after
scene break is NOT indented.
Double dashes are changed to one dash...
Everything is justified. After you justify a manuscript, you have to
make sure the every title, by line and scene break are truly centered.
Anything in the story that is underlined, YOU change
it to italics, and get rid of the underline.
PLEASE edit your manuscript. I do not want to see simple
mistakes, such as use of effect/affect/then/than/it's /its/they're/their
mistakes, please be an editor and see and
fix these problems.
Links do not belong in print books, it looks stupid. So, if a person
puts a link in the bio do this: Make the ink BLACK, get rid
of the underline... PLEASE!
